Deborah has been a tireless blogger and voice on social media campaigning for better safety and greater attention to the psychological aspects of cosmetic procedures, both surgical and non-surgical.
She co-founded the pioneering free website CosmeticSupport.com in January 2000 and thereby heard from hundreds of men and women about their joys, anxieties and disappointments from their experiences of the cosmetic industry. She is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She was on the Expert Reference Group for Health Education England which was tasked to create for non-surgical cosmetic practitioners new Qualification Recommendations that now include a psychology module to help practitioners better understand the needs of their patients. In this ground-breaking book she reviews the history of the growing recognition of the psychological dimension in the cosmetic industry and highlights what still needs to be done if patient safety, your safety, is to be protected and enhanced. |
